Q: Hey, just why aren’t there any vocals in the tracks I’m listening to?
A: The short answer: I can’t sing.

The long answer: I’ve heard too many other indie bands butcher a good song with bad vocals. Believe it or not, the ability to sing well is an instrument (sort of), and because one can play a violin, it doesn’t mean they are any good at the flute. Though it seems that many people like to think that if they can play a guitar, then that also means they can also sing. My ears have told me differnt truths. Couple this with trying to fill the norm that all bands should have a singer, and you get a lot of bands with people singing, who really shouldn’t be, just to meet the status quo.

Anthelia on the other hand, doesn’t care about the norms. Until we find an acceptable vocalist, there shall be none.

Q: Hey wait, don’t you have a vocalist listed on this site?
A: What? Ha ha ha. You so funny.

Q: This music will never get radio play.
A: Well, not so much of a question now is this? Though we do hear this from critics quite often, and we beleive iot is meant to be a derogatory comment. However, we like to take it as a compliment that roughly translates into “Hey! You don’t sound like Nickelback! Listened to the radio lately? Not a crowd we care to be associated with. Every time someone tells us that we aren’t radio friendly, we know we are staying on track.

Concurrently, I don’t think we would want heavy radio play. The quickest way to ruin a track is to subjugate people with it 130 times a day. At this point it begins to get trendy, which leaves two options.

  1. Keep doing what got big on the radio in the first place, grow stale, and then have the old fans call you a sell-out.
  2. Change directions, alienate the newly aqcuired radio fans, and then have them call you a sell-out.

Q: Can I have your baby?
A: Well, at the moment I have no baby, but if I do happen to aqcuire one in the near future, then sure, you can have it. It will spare me a lot of responsibility
